This month Dave Shaw joined 11 other cyclists to raise money for Cyclists Fighting Cancer (CFC).

Cyclists Fighting Cancer Fundraiser

This worthy charity helps children and young people living with cancer across the UK regain their physical fitness, improve mental wellness, and reduce social isolation by giving them new lightweight bikes, specially adapted trikes, cycling related equipment and support.

Since 2005 they have helped overed 8,500 families living with and beyond cancer throughout the UK.

Setting off at 4.30am on Friday 16th June, Dave and the others cycled the 221 miles from Manchester to Chelmsford, in hot and sunny conditions. Finishing the course at 9.30pm the route was the longest cycle that Dave has done.

Every year in the UK approximately 2,400 children up to and including the age of 18 are diagnosed with cancer. Cyclists Fighting Cancer encourage cycling as the best form of exercise-based rehabilitation especially for children because it provides all these benefits in a low impact, fun, sociable and exciting way.

As it stands Dave has raised around £1900, and in total the team of cyclists have raised £11,500.

Well done Dave!!
